Chosen Family: A Storytelling Workshop

Time & Location

May 13, 2026, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Herrick District Library - Main Library, 300 S River Ave, Holland, MI 49423, USA

About the event

Join us for a two-week Moth-style storytelling workshop where you can craft, refine, and rehearse personal stories around the theme "Chosen Family." To prepare, think of that moment when you realized "These are my people," or a time when you felt chosen … when you knew you belonged … when you felt welcomed. Accepted. Loved.

In week one (Wednesday, May 13, 6-8) we will be exploring the elements of what makes a good story. In week two (Wednesday, May 20, 6-8) you will have the chance to practice your story and receive feedback.

These workshops are in preparation for the Pride Kick-off Open Mic event on Tuesday, May 26, although the most important outcome is the sense of community we get from telling our stories. If you can't attend both weeks, no worries. Please come to the workshop you're able to attend.
