Cathy's Bio
Cathy Anthofer-Fialon has an eclectic professional history, but what has been consistent is how she describes herself professionally: as a humanitarian. She has worked as a paramedic first responder, a nonprofit leader, has been a court advocate for survivors of intimate partner violence, and worked with youth as an employee in family court. She also spent 15 years working in higher education student life and public safety.
Her first job out of college in 1992 was at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan where she petitioned the board to allow her to advise a student group for the LGBTQ+ student community. With a PhD in criminal justice and first responder experience, she is committed to creating safe communities. As a practicing Quaker, she is committed to nonviolence.
She loves to run (not fast, but faster than sitting on her couch) and spend time with her family. She's also an avid snowshoer.
