Penny Jansen (she/her)

Penny's Bio

Penny is a lifelong resident of Holland, MI, where she has raised two beautiful children.  She learned the love of giving to the community from her parents, who dedicated their lives to state and local Disabled American Veterans, and has volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and various church committees. She has also been employed by SpartanNash for 13 years and held many positions within the company, including her current role as Accounting Assistant in the Financial Services Department.

Penny’s love for the LGBTQIA+ community started when her daughter came out at the age of 18.  The Holland/Lakeshore chapter of PFLAG provided the safe and loving community that was necessary for her daughter to transition and become her authentic self. Penny has also been with Gender SAFE since its beginning, serving as both treasurer and secretary and working

to create Holland's first Transgender Day of Remembrance in 2018. 

Penny joined the OOTL Board in January 2022.  She also hosts Reading The Rainbow and is a co-host of Adult Game Night, where she has enjoyed meeting new members of the community and providing a safe place for them to be their authentic selves. Penny loves Holland and is dedicated to making it a welcoming city for everyone.
